Adventure Awaits Spring 2026: Read Our New E-Magazine

Spring has returned to the Magalies River Valley, bringing softer mornings, changing colours and another beautiful season of sunrise ballooning.

We are delighted to share the latest edition of Adventure Awaits, the exclusive e-magazine from Bill Harrop’s “Original” Balloon Safaris.

Our Spring 2026 edition brings together 20 pages of ballooning stories, guest experiences, practical information, beautiful photography and a closer look at the people who make each flight possible.

A New Season Above the Magalies

Spring does not replace the landscape. It reveals a different version of it.

From the balloon basket, the changing season appears in the fields, rivers, trees and early-morning light. No two flights follow the same route, and no two mornings reveal the valley in quite the same way.

In this edition, we explore the experience from the first pre-dawn coffee to the final toast after landing. Readers can discover what happens during inflation, boarding, lift-off, flight, recovery and the return to the Clubhouse Pavilion for breakfast.

For a more detailed guide, read What to Expect from a Hot Air Balloon Safari.

Stories from Behind the Scenes

Ballooning may look peaceful from the air, but every safe and memorable flight begins with careful preparation on the ground.

The Spring edition steps behind the burner to explore pilot training, Balloon School, flight operations and the work of the ground crew. These are the experienced people who prepare, launch, follow and recover each balloon as one coordinated team.

Visit our Balloon School to follow the Flight Log series and learn more about the journey from first curiosity to commercial balloon flight.

More Than a Beautiful Photograph

A spectacular sunrise photograph tells only part of the story.

Adventure Awaits also looks at the importance of choosing an established balloon operator, asking direct questions and understanding what is included in the complete experience.

If you are comparing balloon safari options, read How to Choose a Hot Air Balloon Operator in South Africa.

The magazine also includes photography advice for passengers, together with a reminder to occasionally put the camera down and experience the quiet for yourself.

More images from our flights can be found in the Photo and Video Gallery.

Some Mornings Become Memories

Balloon safaris are often chosen for birthdays, anniversaries, family gatherings, friendships, corporate experiences and long-awaited bucket-list adventures.

The reasons for flying may differ, but the expression on people’s faces after landing remains wonderfully familiar.

Our Spring edition celebrates those shared moments, along with 45 Reasons to Fly with the Original, practical Spring Flight Notes and a local accommodation feature introducing Lemon Bee Guesthouse in Skeerpoort.
