Festive Explorer Balloon Safari: A Little Adventure, A Lot of Magic
There’s something extraordinary about watching the Magalies River Valley come to life from the basket of a hot air balloon.
As the sun rises over the mountains, you’ll drift gently above the countryside, taking in sweeping views, fresh morning air and the kind of peaceful beauty that makes you forget about everything happening on the ground.
With Bill Harrop’s “Original” Balloon Safaris, you’re not simply booking a balloon flight. You’re enjoying a complete sunrise experience with South Africa’s original commercial hot air balloon operator, established in 1981.
And with our Festive Explorer Offer at R3,195 per person sharing, there’s even more reason to make that bucket-list adventure a reality.
Your Festive Explorer Balloon Safari Includes
- A warm welcome with pre-flight tea, coffee and refreshments at our launch site.
- An approximately one-hour sunrise hot air balloon flight over the beautiful Magalies River Valley.
- Sparkling wine and orange juice to celebrate your landing.
- A delicious buffet breakfast at our Clubhouse Pavilion.
- A personalised Certificate of Bravery to remember your adventure.
Allow approximately 3 to 4 hours for the complete experience, leaving you with wonderful memories and the rest of the day to enjoy.

Important: Is the Explorer Package Right for You?
Our Explorer Package is best suited to guests who can be flexible with their flight dates.
Hot air ballooning is entirely weather-dependent. Should we cancel your flight due to unsafe weather conditions, your Explorer ticket can be rebooked for another available date within its original 12-month validity period.
Explorer tickets are non-refundable in the event of weather-related cancellations.
If you are visiting Gauteng for a limited period, travelling from overseas or unable to return for another flight, we recommend our Traditional Package instead. The Traditional Package includes the option of a refund should we cancel your flight due to unsafe weather. All standard Explorer Package terms and conditions apply, subject to applicable consumer protection legislation.
