Montgolfier Day marks the birth of human flight. In 1783 the Montgolfier brothers, paper makers from France, proved that heated air could lift a balloon skyward. That year became a whirlwind of firsts in ballooning, and the world has been looking up ever since. Today balloonists celebrate Montgolfier Day every November, sharing the magic of flight with families on the ground, then lighting balloons at dusk for a Night Glow if the weather allows.
